Danny “Bam Bam” Rams
Gulliver Prep High School, Florida
During spring break two of the nation's premier prep tournaments were taking place. At the Cleats National Invitational in Scottsdale, Arizona, Miami's Gulliver Prep defeated Brophy Prep of Phoenix 15-5 to take the title.
Sophomore catcher Danny Rams went 6-for-8 with four home runs in the event. “Bam Bam” was named MVP for the tournament. Assistant coach Suarez says, “ Danny's performance in the tournament was unbelievable.”
He has carried his overall performance at the plate into his season in Florida. Danny is batting .380 with 51 at bats and a .824 slugging percentage. With 12 runs scored, 19 hits, six doubles, five home runs and 21 RBIs, Rams leads his team from the five hole.
Not only is he a dominant hitter, but also “Bam Bam” is solid behind the plate. Working with former catcher turned pitcher, Chris Garcia, as well as aces Matt Moser and Jorge Lorie, “Bam Bam” demonstrates how much he adds to the team.
“He is a great kid with a big smile. He loves to be out on the field. Danny is going to be one of the best players in the state of Florida!” Coach Suarez comments.
Gulliver Prep is lucky to have this 6'2, 220 pound sophomore for a couple more years. South Florida has some of the toughest competition in high school baseball. However, with Danny Rams in the line-up big things are expected.
